Jedi or Princess?
I couldn't decide what I wanted to do as far as a gender reveal. I even thought about not doing one, but ultimately I felt like I would miss out on some righteous new parent privilege if I didn't. So, I got to thinking...Since Vader was our "first child", it only seemed right that he be involved in the reveal. But how? I cruised Pinterest for ideas, but everything seemed so overplayed.
I decided since Vader's first birthday (see my post here) was such a huge success, we should get him a dog cake and let him do the revealing! We loved his birthday cake and we knew Meatloaf's Kitchen would be up for the challenge in doing a Star Wars themed dog cake. It's our favorite shop, because she uses no chemicals or harmful dyes, as well as vegan/vegetarian ingredients. The owner makes all of the cakes herself! And yes, she made that yoda on top of the cake! He turned out PERFECT!
I loved the "Jedi or Princess" saying on the cake and the little light sabers! Although, I did get some slack from a few extremely sensitive feminazi liberals telling me that my baby could be a Jedi AND a Princess. *insert slightly annoyed face* I mean, I get it! But come on...let me perpetuate some stereotypical Star Wars nouns for the sake of being cute!
Vader knew the cake was ALL for him! You can see Ben's hand in the picture, because we had to hold him back from devouring the cake before I could take this picture! Poor guy! Life is so, so hard as a dog! *eye roll*
None of the video I took ended up being very exciting, but I did take this stillshot of Vader looking at the camera while licking his lips after his first bite. I feel like his expression says, "Mom, is this real life?! You're really going to let me eat this two-tier cake?" Of course we didn't let him eat it all, but it was worth every penny regardless to see how happy he was!
Aaaaaaaand NOW, the big reveal...
IT'S A GIRL!
I think Ben was the smallest bit sad, because he was really hoping for a girl. Ben's mom guessed boy, but said she couldn't really tell by my body shape like she usually can. Ben's dad also thought it was a boy, because [verbatim] "he can't see Ben having a girl, so it has to be a boy!" Hah! I keep reminding Ben that once this little girl is here, she will be completely wrapped around his finger!
So now it's time to plan everything in shades of purple, gray, navy, and pink! :)
LOL, I just realized that Vader ate Yoda's ear! That dog makes me laugh, I swear! :)
