Our Saturday & Sunday got weird!

Our Saturday & Sunday got weird!

Um, yeah.  I pretty much HAVE to write this post because no one will believe me as to how our Saturday night turned out.  Let's just say, it was a weird one...

We started off our Saturday night by meeting up with Pat and his new girlfriend for a double date.  Now, I must say, when Ben told me that he had committed us to a double date, I wasn't thrilled.  Doesn't it sound like those roles should be reversed?  I'm just a sweatpants kind of girl...a homebody in an intimate relationship Friday through Sunday with Netflix and her couch.  I really didn't want to go out this past weekend, but Ben dragged me out the door.

We met up with Pat and his girlfriend Mary at Billy Barooz for dinner.  We were supposed to go to Bayern Stube, but since Oktoberfest just started up, they were booked solid for the night.  Then, we were supposed to go to Texas Road House, but that was a mad house!  So, we settled on Billy Barooz.  it was busy too, but we got a table right away.

It was a little awkward at first, just because I felt like it was just Mary and I talking and Pat/Ben watching us "get along" LOL...One night, Ben told me that Pat had told his girlfriend that Ben and I are his best friends and if she (his girlfriend) doesn't get along with us, then it's over!  LOL...hence the "watching us talk" thing...Hah! :)

After dinner, we went to the Ice House, which is a small, hole-in-the-wall type of bar (our favorite kind of joint!) and continued hanging out there.  My sister-in-law and her cousin met up with us there too.  Ben and I like their Moscow Mules!  It is the PERFECT Summer time drink!  It's just Tito's vodka, ginger beer, and a lime all served in a copper cup to keep it super cold.  They also have this amazing concoction called the "Birthday Martini."  They mix up a bunch of shit that tastes like birthday cake, and then they rim the glass with vanilla icing and dip it in sprinkles. Once they do all of that, they pour the birthday martini drink into the glass and it melts all of the sprinkles into awesome colors!

We eventually left and headed home for the night...Oh, hello sweatpants! Did you miss me?!We got ready to go to bed, and all of a sudden I see Ben walk into the room with a board game! LOL, I'm like, "What are you doing?" He said, "Let's play Blokus." Yeahhhh, Ben had quite a few drinks...But when your husband wants to play a board game in bed, it might be weird, but you DO IT!

So, we played Blokus in bed...drunk.  I don't know how, but we didn't lose any pieces. All I've ever heard from Ben whenever we talk about board games is "Blokus this" and "Blokus that!"  Of course, Ben won!  But, this was my first time playing the game!  I was never a fan of Tetris and this is very similar.

Then, it was lights out...until 5 AM rolled around.  I heard a super loud BANG noise.  I thought Ben had accidentally knocked one of his AC/fan remotes off of his nightstand in his sleep.  So, I just let myself doze off again.  Then, I heard a second LOUD BANG and I opened my eyes this time.  No movement from Ben at all.  I laid there with my eyes wide open.  I told myself if I heard it a third time, I'm waking him up.

And there it was!  BANG!  It sounded like it came from inside our house!  So, I'll tell you two things:  what I meant to do and what I actually did.

WHAT I MEANT TO DO:  shake Ben's body until he woke up and whisper to him that I think someone is in the house.

WHAT I ACTUALLY DID:  pulled Ben's underwear up high and gave him a wedgie to wake him up!

OMG!  I'm dying laughing as I type this!  I don't know know how/what/why that happened, but my fingers just immediately hooked into the band of his underwear/shorts and I pulled them up high!  POOR GUY!  What a way to wake up! He told me that he heard all three of the noises too.  He said he thought it was me dropping my phone on the floor.

So, Ben quietly grabbed his gun and handed me a huge flashlight.  I SOOOO WISH that someone was video taping us moving throughout the house!  It felt like the movies, where you would wait on one side of the wall and then clear the next room.  In reality, it probably did not look like Hollywood!  LOL!

We checked the entire house and the outside...we didn't see anything unusual.  We tried to go back to sleep, but we kept playing the infamous "guess what those noises were."  We came up with some pretty creative stories, but then we just started to freak ourselves out!

Come to find out, other neighbors heard it too.  One neighbor told me that she had confirmation that it was fireworks.  We were relieved that it was only fireworks, but why at 5 AM?!  And who?!

Here's out SnapChat story all rolled up into one:

Ultimately, it was just a weird, weird night. I'm glad we are safe...and that I have a husband who will grab his gun to check the house without any hesitation...and that I didn't hurt his man jewels from that "alarm clock wedgie" I gave him. Sorry, hunny!
