He's got one foot in the frying pan and one in the pressure cooker. Believe me, as a bowler, I know that right about now, your bladder feels like an overstuffed vacuum cleaner bag and your butt is kinda like an about-to-explode bratwurst."

Ben and I decided that we wanted to grab some schnitzels from the Bayern Stube after work on Friday. See! We eat here a lot...Snapchat just released a couple new filters, so we had fun with those on the drive there!

That is seriously the cutest monkey ever...

At dinner, Ben decided to have a couple beers, so he was TURNED UP when we left! I've been on a diet for the last couple weeks (I've been keeping it quiet) and couldn't drink with him!  Ben kept begging me to have a drink.  He suggested going to the Sand Trap (a local bar), but I really didn't want to sit at the bar sober with my food baby...LOL!  Ben then suggested buying two tall boys at the gas station!  Persistent, isn't he?!  :)

This video is the PERFECT insight to how Ben and I find adventures.  We are very "go with the flow" and we love spontaneity in all forms.

There's this bowling alley that we always pass on our way to the German restaurant. If there wasn't a sign, you probably wouldn't know that it was a bowling alley. The building is old and looks run-down. But, when you walk in, it's AMAZING! This little place is called Gibson Bowl, and they don't have much of a website. The place was COMPLETELY empty! We kept hearing the doors open and people come in, but I think they only come to drink at the bar.

Can you say 1970s? It's AMAZING and everything still worked! The sweetest old lady set up everything for us, and she even helped us when our ball got stuck in the return. I broke down and had two beers with Ben while we were there. Ben was worried that I was going to be some professional-grade bowler, but he actually surprised me! Check this out:

The lady even let me borrow a pair of socks, since I basically LIVE in flip flops year round. I looked pretty silly wearing capris with tall socks and bowling shoes! But, since we had the entire bowling alley to ourselves, I didn't really care! I wouldn't have cared even if it was a packed house! We used silly names and bowled two games!

Ben won the first game, and I won the second.  We should have played a third to determine the ultimate bowling king, but I think the place only takes cash, and we weren't sure how much everything was going to cost.  We went to "check out" (is that the proper term at a bowling alley? lol) and for two games, two shoe rentals, and 1 sock rental, it was only....$11!  HOLY SHIT!  This place is amazing!  We had so much fun at a place that most people probably would pass on!  We will definitely be coming back for our championship round!  :)

So, what do two newlyweds decide to start on a late Saturday afternoon?  No, this isn't some Laffy Taffy joke (although...just throwing this out there:  Laffy Taffy jokes < Popsicle jokes). We decided that we were going to start sealing/staining our fence!  I mean, who does that!?  Well, we do!  We built this MASSIVE fence last year on our property when Teddie Ruxpin was still with us.  This fence was actually one of my stipulations to move in with Ben when we were still dating!  :)  Teddie was my life, and we were a 2 for 1 deal   Well, I guess when you build a fence, you have to let the wood "cure" outside for a year before you seal, paint, or stain it.  So, it was time to start...

I can't even TELL you how good it looks! My husband is seriously the hardest worker I've ever known! Sometimes I feel like I'm too lazy of a person to be with him, but he pushes me to get things done that I would otherwise push off until the last minute. He's also such a DIY-er. He didn't grow up in a family that paid to have other people fix their things when they broke. Neither did I, but somehow, I'm just inherently lazy lol. I like to think that it's because I live a busy life with work & school & other hobbies (which don't include housework! LOL)

Doesn't it look so good?!  We are almost done with the entire fence!  It's definitely been a job, but Ben has put in so much work!  I came home from work yesterday, and he had completely the entire driveway BY HAND (on the neighbor's side).  I mean, the dude is a beast!  When I come home from work, I'm rushing to get in that door and put my sweatpants on and tie my hair up!

We are kinda in this limbo-state of knowing what to do with our house.  Ben is very "Let's sell this NOW", but I'm kinda indecisive when it comes to selling our house.  I think I'm this way, because I've never bought a house before.  I will be a first-time home buyer and I don't want to waste that "perk" on buying another house that either needs a lot of work to fit what we need OR buying a home that we won't live in for a long time.  I want our next house to be somewhere that we stay for awhile...

I'm not asking for my dream home at this point in life, but I want a home where we can grow. There's a couple things that we have decided are absolutes when it comes to our next house:

  • Larger Kitchen: I LOVE LOVE LOVE kitchens with islands. I need a kitchen that is big enough to have an island, or already comes with one (preferably one that allows for some seating at it). And just all around more counterspace...a better functioning "work triangle" (OoOooh! I sound professional...look it up!).

  • Master Bathroom: DEAR GOD, PLEASE! I love our bathroom, but I only love it for ONE PERSON! Ben and I feel like we are on top of each other sometimes, and I TOTALLY see the value in having two sinks in a bathroom! So, we decided that the bathroom has to be big enough for two sinks (if it doesn't come with two already).

  • # of Bedrooms: We have decided that we need a house that has a MINIMUM of 3 bedrooms. Right now, we are operating with 2, and they are petite! Especially, if we are ever going to start a family, we need more bedrooms!

  • Large Yard: This is one of the major things that makes me LOVE where I currently live. We have a MASSIVE backyard that is completely fenced in. Vader needs time to run off all of his crazies/zoomies. I highly doubt we will find a house with the same size as our yard, but I still would like to see a larger than normal yard so Vader can run around!

Ben wants a larger living room, and I agree, but it's not a requirement for me. Our living room that we have now is a good size. The only problem is that we have water heaters and that limits us in where we can place our furniture. Oh ya, that brings me to our other absolute that I forgot above:

  • AIR CONDITIONING: CENTRAL FUCKING AIR! We are living in the 1900s with our window ACs (LOL, ok not really...but go with it!). I've learned to live with window ACs, but I think we need a house with central air! Ben definitely agrees!

We have also talked about wanting to live out in the country or on some water.  Ben and I would like to make that one of our absolutes, but we both know that only looking at those kinds of places jacks the price up and we might lose out on finding the perfect house (even if it is in a neighborhood).

So, I can't really tell you what the future holds for the next Bohlen homestead.  :)  But, that's life for ya!
