Oct 26 Vader's first birthday, ya'll!

I can still see the confused, slightly concerned look that Ben gave me when I told him that we needed to start planning Vader's first birthday party. I'm just like, "Ben! It's 2016...this is the new world we live in!" I envisioned having a big backyard party on a Saturday afternoon with BBQ, all the side fixins, and a cake for Vader. I wanted to have a Star Wars theme paw-ty...hah! Especially with all of the work we have done to the house, it would just be nice to have a weekend away from painting and having some friends over to celebrate. Ben laid down the law and said NO!

I tried and tried, but the answer was still no. Marriage is all about compromise, right?! So, we settled on having a cake and party hats with just us three ON THE CONDITION THAT I could post pictures on social media of us celebrating V's birthday...hats and all! It was a god damn deal! We shook on it and everything!

I ordered a custom cake from Meatloaf's Kitchen on Etsy. They are a company that doesn't use any preservatives or chemicals in their products! The owner was able to make me a custom Vader themed birthday cake. It even said, "Vader...One You Are" on the side! Check it out:

She went above and beyond my expectations! The cake was flawless! It even shipped all the way from Pennsylvania without any troubles!

I also ordered these cute, little glow-in-the-dark Vader birthday hats for us from The Royal Touch on Etsy. Because what 1 year old doesn't like glow-in-the-dark shit? My point EXACTLY!

You might be wondering: Why isn't Ben in the picture with his hat considering our bonafide mutual agreement? Well, I'll tell you why! If you read my previous post from the haunted house tour, Ben prematurely knew he was going to get sick from standing near "Rantoulians" and he was RIGHT! Normally, I would call BULLSHIT on that kind of thing, but he was actually really sick, so he played the role of our photographer instead!

I also ordered a custom batch of Vader-head shaped dog treats from Pawbaby Biscuits on Etsy. This awesome shop makes all kinds of dog treats that are all healthy, grain-free, and organic. All of their treats are made fresh to order and I really like that they donate a percentage to local shelters!

Vader REEEEALLY liked these treats, so I am definitely going to be ordering more for him! This was his birthday present along with a new ball. What can I say, the kid loves any kind of ball! A natural sport! Such a boy! (I hope you are enjoying my terrible joke-y commentary throughout this post, because I am!)

And, now it's time for CAKE!

He absolutely LOVED IT! He was so gentle with the cake! I think he instinctively knew the amount of work that went into his custom birthday cake! We let him have at it for awhile, but kept the leftovers in the freezer for a special treat another day!

All in all, I feel like Vader knew it was his birthday. Ben would probably disagree with me, but he was extra wiggly and happy...the way a pup should be on his birthday!
