A Fairly Amazing Night
The truth is: I’ve always been an elephant ear kind of gal. It wasn’t until Ben came along that I would pay any mind to funnel cakes. Folks, I have been converted. I have been baptized in all that is holy in hot fried dough and powdered sugar.
Now, it’s a good thing that the fair is the only place I currently know how to get my hands on one of those pillows of goodness. There’s probably other places, but don’t tell me! Thou shall not buy BIGGER pants this year!
The Fisher fair was in town, and it is the most perfect small town affair (lol, if you haven’t noticed, I love puns). It’s intimate, but still covers all the things that make up a county fair:
Fried, fried, fried…let’s fry things that have never been fried before and sell them to the public. Also, you’re nothing more than a parking lot party if you don’t have a lemon shake-up stand! 🍋
Rides. You gotta have a ferris wheel, a merry-go-round, and a very unsafe machine that flings you up into the air vertically or horizontally, or both!
A large group of hopeful parents watching the fair queen pageant. (We asked Way if she wants to be in the pagent and she shook her head “no”. ) #thatagirl
Some kind of 4H hybrid animal show/petting zoo. I bet your fair didn’t have a rabbit judging competition…I am not kidding. People do that. 🐇
A ring toss game where you can win a goldfish that you never actually wanted! (MIL made sure to let me know she did not want another fair fish! She’s kept my nephew’s fair fish alive for 2 years lol)
That about sums it up!
Ben wasn’t thrilled to go to the fair. He had worked all day outside, and I’m sure the last thing he wanted to do was go stand outside in the heat listening to kids screaming. So, I had to do a lot of dragging, but I was successful and I think he even admitted at the end of the night that he was glad we went!
My main goal of the fair was to have Waylin try her very first funnel cake! Is that an experience that people write down in their baby book? No? Well, it should be! 🤣
I feel like this goes without saying, but of course she liked it!
Also, I’d like to point out that Ben bought her these C-U-T-E overalls all by himself! He called me when he was in town shopping alone and asked what size she was. He came home with some pajamas and these cute overalls! PERFECT FAIR ATTIRE!
I wasn’t planning on Waylin being able to ride any of the rides. I underestimated how tall she really is! She was tall enough to ride a couple of them! We decided to try the merry-go-round, and MY GOD! Look how fast that thing went:
Like, I still can’t get over how FAST that was going!
If this picture isn’t the definition of happiness and county fairs…😍🎠🎡
As we drove home, I couldn’t stop thinking about how we had such a great night…a Tuesday night even! It was fairly amazing! ❤
