 Ya Little Goof!

Ya Little Goof!

The beautiful weather spilled over into Sunday!

I generally grocery shop on Sundays with Waylin.  I always ask her if she wants to go shopping with me and that's a "head nod yes" every time!  #thatagirl

She was absolutely G-O-O-F-Y at Aldi!  I always let her hold some of the groceries and pronounce the names of the things we buy.  I swear the other patrons probably think I'm crazy with how much I talk to Waylin while I shop, but I don't really care!  I don't know if this is weird to admit, but grocery shopping is actually a hobby of mine!  I think a lot of it stems back to the idea that I am proud of myself for being able to provide for my family.

There was a time when I was in college and couldn't even afford ramen noodles.  I remember my mum dropping everything and picking me up to take me to the grocery store.  I was embarrassed that my mum was buying me groceries.  It was a very humbling experience though and I vowed to never get myself into that situation again.  To this day, I actually feel a sense of pride when I look at my pantry and see so much food!

Anyways, she thought it was SOOO funny to hold the sweet potatoes on her tatas! And frankly, it was! Also, aren't those piggies just adorable on her? She kept them in the entire day! I couldn't believe it!

We came home to find our friend Ponder had stopped by!

We call him Uncle Ponder because he is the epitome of "the fun Uncle" to any kid he meets!

While we were remodeling our kitchen, Ben noticed that the kitchen window was rotting and needed to be replaced.  I thought they were a little crazy to start working on the window with rain in the forecast, but Ben got it done just in time for the rain! 🌧️

Whew!  #anxiety

As you can see in the picture, Waylin brought them her new tie-dye llama that her mama couldn't resist buying from Aldi! 🦙

You'll probably notice a trend throughout this blog, but Ben is L-I-T-E-R-A-L-L-Y the smartest man in the world!  He truly has the work ethic of like...10 dudes.  Meanwhile, I'm sitting on the couch eating bon bons (SIDE NOTE:  Are bon bons an actual food or some kind of ethereal candy only known in I Love Lucy? Hmm 💭).  Kidding, I am busy entertaining Way while he works.  Most of the time I feel really guilty.  He never complains, which makes me love him even more.  I think he might have the *tiniest* idea of how much work it takes to entertain a 17 month old...just the tiniest! 😊

Part of that entertainment meant going outside to blow bubbles.  See, the pigtails are rough, but they are still there!  😍  She loves bubbles!  She wanted to *try* to blow the bubbles herself, so I let her.  She learned how to dunk it into the bottle and hold it up to her lips.  But then...she would eat the bubble solution!  🤦 Don't worry, it said "NON TOXIC" right next to "DO NOT INGEST!" 😲

She lives. 😂

Before a storm rolled in, we decided to do some exploring in the bean field 🌱 across from our house.  It's funny because once you get this girl outside, you can't bring her back in!  MIL actually has to SPELL the word "outside" when she's talking otherwise Way starts heading towards the door (and she won't forgive you if you go back on your word! 😭)

As a kid, I always played outside.  Even with Super Nintendo coming out, we still spent the majority of our days outside with our imaginations.  Kids these days stay glued to electronic devices, and while we aren't completely innocent there (she gets to watch cartoons), I still like to have her engage with nature as much as possible!

For a split second I thought, "Maybe she shouldn't be playing/touching the field...Pesticides...or even worse, spiders!"  But, I turned okay (I think...) and I spent every weekend playing in a corn silo 🌽 across the street from my dad's warehouse in Deland while my grandpa mowed the lawn.  My sister and I would do "corn angels" in all the kernels that overflowed from the silo.  I used to feel bad for whoever ate that corn after my grubby hands/body were all over it, but I know now that most of Illinois' corn is used to feed livestock and fuel vehicles.  😜

We took a long bath that night to scrub all the dirt from underneath her nails!  🛁🧽🧼

And just like that, she turned back into a pretty princess ready for bed!  👸

Goodnight, sweet pea!
