First Cousins Once Removed
My coworkers and I mapped out a fictional family on my whiteboard at work to be able to title this blog post correctly! 😄 I'm not at an age where I'm concerned about family trees and the correct verbage for how someone is related to me. I am thankful for those that do keep these kinds of records, though! Thanks, Aunt Duchess! ❤️️
This past weekend, we had a big family reunion when Ben's cousins came to town from California. It was the most gorgeous Spring day you could ever imagine! So naturally that meant, I had no clue how to dress Waylin! Spring weather is difficult to predict and it feels unnatural to layer in reverse (unlike Fall 🍁 We decided to go with llama leggings, a pink dress complete with a tulle skirt, and a hoodie! This little misfit was cute, nonetheless! 😍
Gabe, his wife, and Jake drove over 20 hours straight to come visit the family, so we went to Uncle Elton's house to hangout. Since the weather was so beautiful, we spent the majority of the day outside. Waylin found the easter eggs, which made me really excited for the upcoming Easter holiday! 🐰
Waylin enjoyed playing with this basketball too! 🏀
It reminded me of my childhood when I played basketball. So much so that I thought I would try my hand at tossing the ball into the hoop. Sounds easy, right?!

Truthfully, although I played basketball in 7th and 8th grade, I was never very good! I think I made 1 point from a free through on a foul once in my entire "career"...so on the bench I sat! 🤷
Surprisingly, Ben didn't play basketball either. He is really tall, so I can't believe he wasn't forced into the sport! For the record, he also swooshed and missed when he tried too!
It was really sunny out, so I grabbed her sunglasses out of the diaper bag. 🕶️

She wore them the entire day, which was surprising, because I don't know how her little nose kept them on!
She has always liked sunglasses, but not the whole "keeping-them-on-my-face" kind of thing! 😃
She has quite a collection of sunnies actually that I keep in the night stand next to her changing table. I give her a pair of "cool dude glasses" (that's what we call them) when I change her diaper because it helps distract her from being a raging alligator! 🐊
Waylin REALLY loved the trampoline! 😍 Who doesn't?
It reminds me of a quote that Ben always says whenever there's a trampoline around. There's an old Simpson's episode where Homer Simpson says "TRAMP-POP-O-LEEN" and it never fails to make me laugh when Ben says it! He does the BEST impressions, but always gets shy when I want to capture it on camera! 🎥
We played with all of the outdoor playsets at Elton's house! Including this cool circular swing!
I'd like to think she was babbling off about how relaxed she was in this video! 😉
Waylin is definitely an explorer of sorts. 🕵️♀️
It actually kind of scares me that she's so trusting of her environment. She has no problem wandering away from us. There's no stopping and glancing back at her parents to make sure we're still there. Nothing.
She's FULL SPEED AHEAD on checking out what's around the corner!
I don't know where she gets this confidence. I should have known when Santa brought her a playhouse last Christmas. She would sit inside that thing in complete darkness and "read" her books! #sortacreepysortacute
As a mom, I now understand why people put their kids on a leash at Disney World...or really anywhere! 😄 ⛓️
It was truly a great day filled with so much fun!
I'd also like to note that the SALT 'N' PEPPER 👴🏻 is coming in 🔥 HOT 🔥 on this man, and I am allllll here for it! 🙋 How handsome is he coloring with Way? The correct answer is "YES, SUPER HANDSOME" (in case you were wondering!) 😍
