Pu-Pu-Push it Real Good!
🙌SALT - N - PEPA HERE, AND WE'RE IN EFFECT 🙌
I'm a 90s girl without a doubt. (How many blog posts have I started with this? 😂) The title of this post made me reminisce about the days when music was so simple and catchy, and I laughed at this meme! 🎵 Pu-Pu-Push it reallll good! Bum Ba Da Da Da, Ba Da Da Da... 🎵
Ok, now that we got that out of the way...last weekend was lots of fun! We did laundry, started our new Valentine's Day tradition, had a photoshoot, and went grocery shopping! To summarize, this is the biggest "aka momlife" that you've ever seen!
I can always count on Waylin to help me with the laundry. Sometimes, if she's bored or fussy, I just grab her laundry bin and let her "sort and play." Is playing in "dirty" laundry a bad thing? Meh...she will live! I never put any soiled clothing in there anyway! She inquisitively checks out each piece of laundry as she pulls it out of the basket. And once she's done, she puts them back in. Cycle Repeat. 😄
As far as talking goes, we are working on adding more words. She is clear as day with the word "Hi" as you can see below!
She has said "Happy" very clearly, but doesn't do it on command like she does with the word "Hi." I try to keep telling myself that she will get there soon. I have never been someone to rush through milestones, but talking seems to be one of the ones people ask the most about. And it really makes you feel insecure when they tell you their baby is basically writing their dissertation at this age. 🤷
I know everyone thinks their baby is smart, and I don't doubt that they are. To me, Waylin is way beyond smart. She surpasses my expectations sometimes and I just clap my hands and jump up and down like a crazy lady because I am so proud of her! For example, she loves to play with these Mega Bloks. (This is the kind we have). She is so thoughtful when she is building her blocks. There are ones that can only be built with singles on top. She knows to take it off if she wants to build up the doubles higher before the singles. She also knows to only grab the singles and stack those on top of each other. She creates these huge "skyscrapper-like" builds that really blow me away with how methodical she is in choosing each piece.
Since I'm on a roll with bragging on her 😍, the other night, she was taking out all of the items of a box. This box had a mixture of things in it: stuffed animals, dolls, and books. She took them all out and laid them in a circle near the baby gate (which I think she's trying to show the dog her stuff lol). But she also organized it in a way that HALF of the circle was all of the books near each other, and the other half was all of the stuffed animals. I forced Ben to get up from his recliner to come look at it, because how does she know how to do that?! She took each piece one by one to the circle, so she had a plan in her mind. Babies are amazing. SHE is amazing.
Continuing on with the 90s theme here, the phrase "You've Got Mail!" always comes to mind when talking about mailboxes, internet, email, etc! AOL was the BOSS back then! Actually, funny story - not that funny according to my mum - Back in the 90s, we would get CD-Roms in the mail for free trials of AOL all the time. They were practically begging you to sign up. All the cool kids had AOL, but we didn't. I took my mum's credit card, entered in her information, and signed up for the free trial. I planned to cancel it, but AOL WAS GOD back then! You weren't cool at school if you didn't have @aol.com after your email address! And you weren't with the news if you didn't read it on AOL. Needless to say, Mum got the bill and I was in trouble!
One of my greatest hopes as a mom is that I can show Waylin what kind of love she deserves to have. ❤️️ So, we started a new tradition for Valentine's Day! It's a little bit similar to "Elf on a Shelf" (which we haven't invited our elf to join our family yet!) I bought these really cute mailboxes on Amazon (See them here.) I planned on decorating them, but these were too cute on their own. Beginning February 1st, I put the mailbox out on the counter. Every day, there's a little treat, note, gift, sticker, etc inside for her. She's got mail!
This video was her opening her first mailbox with a Reese's heart!
We also had a photoshoot this weekend! It was a Valentine's Day mini with Josephine Leonard Photography. I kept up with the 90's vibe when I chose her outfit too! I promise to live in 2019 one day! 😂 I don't have previews yet, so I'll feature those in another blog post, but it was adorable! We ended up going grocery shopping after the shoot!
Naturally, we shared some fries before we shopped too! #myfrenchfrydate
Her llama made an appearance in the photos as well as at Meijer. We even put a bow in his hair because she told me to! :) Can you tell me how her Daddy will ever be able to tell her no based on this picture? #nosegoes #notme 😂
Now THIS is the GREATEST thing ever! She was getting really tired when we were checking out, so I let her get out of the cart. She pushed that dang cart all the way from the checkout line, through the store, out the exit door, across the parking lot, and to our car! 💪
She has pushed the cart before, but never this far!
And yes, those are dinosaur slippers! 🦕
MOM HACK: Quit losing shoes all the time and just buy a pair of slippers! These were $4 from Walmart and her foot goes fully inside them. They are easy to slip on when we are rushing out the door in the morning, but don't fall off when you take her out of the cart/car seat. She feels confident when she walks in them, and she's basically the cutest thing ever! ❤️️
