Not even a mouse!
Now that our Christmas cards have been received, it’s safe to post our pictures from a mini photoshoot we had with Karen Howard! I met her through a CU Bloggers group that was designed to bring people together that were interested in that “blog life.” We instantly connected through social media and I am really glad we became “social media friends.” <- that’s a thing nowadays. She has this really unique, almost dark and “earthy” vibe with her art. It’s so different from all the light and airy photographers that pop up overnight (it seems). You can visit her work here: Karen Howard Photography
Our session had to be moved inside, but Karen was such a good host in her apartment. She even let us go visit her dog that was having a play date at her neighbor’s house while her photoshoots were going on! I had talked to Waylin the entire drive there about her dog Charlie, so it was cool she got to meet Charlie and the neighbor’s dog!
I didn’t time our photoshoot quite right, as she was sleepy and actually fell asleep on the way over there. That meant we had a very slim chance at getting smiles lol, but I actually kind of like her solemn look in the pictures. 🤣
I am so glad that I brought her snowsuit that I found at Aldi for $12! She loves it so much (I even wrote an entire blog post about it here)! I used to be so nervous about picking out the right outfit for photoshoots, but I’ve come to love the look of real life. Sure, a Pinterest-worthy family picture would look great on the wall above the couch, but I won’t have happy memories of all those runs to Target (and god-knows where else) to find matchy outfits for the whole family. Instead, I will remember those cowboy boots and how much I love that they are getting wear on the bottoms. I will remember making snow angels in leaves when we first bought that snowsuit and how we threw rocks in the lake together as the sunset…all things that are NOT actually pictured below.
Although it's been said, many times, many ways...Merry Christmas to you! ❤️

...kinda like pajamas and cowboy boots ❤️
The fake snow was so much fun! Karen even had cookies setup for her clients and models. I love that Waylin had little cookie crumbs on her face in the shoot. This. is. real. life! Waylin took two candy canes from the styled photoshoot. I didn’t realize it until we left and I was getting her buckled in. I text Karen to admit our part in the theft of her props. She laughed and said they were for the kids to take home, so Waylin hasn’t committed any felonies yet. Whew! 🤣
It’s the little details that sometimes get you! To me, this picture is so special, because I love how she has these random, blonde curls. I can stare at them for hours because they are so gorgeous and divinely placed. I’m never cutting them!
Thank you for the beautiful pictures and the memories they will spark forever! ❤
