The Pain of Parting
sfkjsdkdbdjhfwe73o2jaskd <— my brain when I am trying to get out of the door every.single.morning. 😩
Pre-baby, I was rarely late to anything. I have always been a 15-20 minutes early kind of person. Fast Forward to nowadays…I can’t be on time to save my life, no matter how early I get started in the process. This annoys Ben to no end. He doesn’t like to be late despite my contant reassurance that people with kids are always acceptably late. It’s a thing…don’t worry about it. #weareallstruggling
I have an ever increasingly difficult time getting Waylin out the door in the morning. Even late! She doesn’t like to leave, which I completely understand. I can relate in two opposite ways: I am an inherent homebody, but once I’m out, I’m not going home. 🤣 I realize that is super confusing, and it’s 100% one of my greatest flaws. I generally prefer to stay home and hang out. However, on two occasions, I went out with friends and told Ben I would be home at such and such time. I had EVERY intention of trying to leave at said time, but MAN! Fun is addicting…when my bestie is begging me to be her beer pong partner or there’s a bar around the corner with a live band…I have a hard time coming home.
So I can relate, Waylin. But for the love of everything timely, can we please find some common ground here? No? Okay, I’ll go back to being creative. <—my tactic.
On this particular day, Waylin wouldn’t leave the house with a hat, unless it was her summer 🌞SUN🌞 hat…in the middle of winter. Oh, and the heart-shaped sunglasses on a gloomy day with zero chance of any sun peeping out of the clouds. We also brought that stick into my car…that reminds me, I think it might still be in there! 🤪
Not every day is as simple as letting her dress for a different season. Some days, she won’t want to willingly come outside. She knows she has to eventually get into the car. This is where I have to access that right hemisphere of my brain for creativity, which by the way, isn’t always easy early in the morning.
I do ALL. THE. THINGS. Kinda like popping bubbles in the garage in 30 degree weather. 🤣
I am also not above manual labor! 😂 Hey! We have places to go…and she’s getting a head start on how to “adult” when she’s ready. I love how kids get so excited over something they have no idea about…like raking leaves. Look at that happy face! ❤ She raked for about 20 seconds after this picture and then willingly went in the car to go to grocery store with me. 😁
My current bribe is, “do you want to clean the snow off of mama’s dirty car?” She does love to do that…so much that I have gone to the extend of picking up snow with bare hands and packing it on my bumper for her to clean off. 😂
I’m now accepting ideas for Spring when the snow melts. Pulling weeds? Will she be tall enough by then to help clean out the gutters? Please comment below. 🤣🤣🤣
