Mother Nature is a Cool Lady!

Last weekend was so jam packed of outdoor fun that I had to write two blog posts about it!  😆 

For Easter, the bunny at Lindsay's house (my SIL) brought Waylin some chalk and bubbles.  It was finally nice enough out to use them at our house!  

I love her outfit in this picture. Growing up, I dressed like a real misfit. My grandparents used to live directly behind us, so I would frequently go over to their house. Nanna was a master gardener and made the BEST cucumber salad I've ever had (and still the best to this day!) I would travel across the yard with a mixing bowl begging for a double batch!

I remember one day she looked at me when I walked in the door and said, "What in the world are you wearing?"  I looked down at my body and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.  She said, "Do you realize that it is summer?  Coming over here dressed like that."  I looked down at myself again to see if I had missed something.  I was wearing an oversized hooded sweatshirt with a smiley face that said "What If", a pair of basketball shorts, tall socks with big puffy snow boots...in the middle of July.  🤷‍♀️  

I certainly was no fashionista growing up, and I'm still not.  I hope Waylin has a chance at being trendy when she develops her own sense of style one day!  👗

We broke out the bubbles too, which turned out to be a lot of fun!

We also went to see some baby pigs!  My coworker's family started a pig/chicken farm this past year called Whistling Hen Farms.  I plan to dedicate a post to all the goodness that is baby pigs, organic eggs, and bacon!  Check back soon!

On our way home, we decided to make another stop at the Sangamon River Forest Preserve.  It's located in Fisher, which is the nearest town to us.  I've always wanted to check it out, and the weather was too beautiful to go home just yet.   We didn't go too far into the preserve.  We climbed a hill (it felt like it was never going to end) and found this bench that overlooked a large prairie filled with dandelions.  We spent an hour blowing dandelion wishes!  🌻

You can see all of the dandelion seeds on the bench!  That's a LOT of wishes!  

If a genie asked me what I wished for, I would tell him that I wished for all of the dishes and laundry to take care of themselves, so I could spend my entire weekends exploring with Waylin. 

And I guess world peace too...😊
