H FOR HAT DAY

H FOR HAT DAY

It’s hard to believe that we are so close to the end of Kindergarten! Waylin’s school decided to mark the last 26 school days of the year with a letter to help bring on a countdown to the last day!

When I was pregnant with Waylin, my in-laws thought for sure we were having a boy. I remember them sizing me up and were so sure that I was having a boy. My MIL saved a bunch of toys + clothes (among other things lol) from Ben’s childhood in the event that he would have a boy. I cannot relate to that as everything I owned as a child was purged in a garage sale or donated. We didn’t have any sentimental attachments to our things because we knew they had to be sold eventually to have money.

One day while we were living with my in-laws and Waylin was a newborn, Pam hauled out her tote full of Ben’s stuff and asked if I wanted anything. I looked through it and picked out some pieces that I thought could be repurposes for her and weren’t too far across the line of being "overly boyish” which I say lightly because girls can like dinosaurs and cars too.

I picked up this jacket that Ben used to wear and thought “just maybe this would be cute with something.”

Ladies and Gentleman, I introduce you to “something cute.”

On Hat Day, I laid out a couple different options for her and she pulled together this outfit all on her own! It was so adorable that I had to pull my camera out before she hopped onto the bus! I NEVER shoot in direct sun, and while the morning hours sort of flirt with harsh sun, I was relatively impressed with myself being able to capture such pretty images with the morning haze!

She is so beautiful no matter what she wears!
