Carving Out Good Times

Carving Out Good Times

Part of this blogging process makes me romanticize time with my family. I think it’s natural to do that when you’re writing about a memory you shared with people you love. There have been some times I didn’t realize were as special as they were until I blogged about them. This, is not one of those times.

One of my favorite TV shows of all time is The Office. Sometimes I feel like Ben catfished me 🤣 because when we remet, I had told him this was my favorite show and he told me he liked it too. HE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! He hates my favorite TV show because he doesn’t understand it. 🙄 But hey, I don’t like HIS favorite TV show either, so we’re even.

In the last episode of The Office (which BTW had NINE seasons…of pure gold), Andy Bernard makes a comment that says, “I wish there was a way to know you're in "the good old days", before you've actually left them.” All the amen hands on that one. ❤ This blog is the best way for me to know and feel the good days.

I can’t help but romanticize the day that we decided to carve our pumpkins. I remember feeling like we were in a cute, little family Halloween movie premiering on a Thursday night…prime time spot.

I had to share this video I took of Waylin that was about 5 minutes before a big meeting on Zoom. She behaves herself for the most part, but I’ve still had moments that were noteworthy, that’s for sure!

Of course, our Halloween pumpkins came from my in-laws’ personal pumpkin patch! We snagged so many good pumpkins this year…oh my gourd, they had some BIG ONES! Ben wasn’t as thrilled as I was to haul all of our top choices back home! 😂

Ben wasn’t feeling well, but he pulled his boot straps up and joined us in our carving adventures! We put those spooky tunes on Spotify and started carving. I taped down some Christmas wrapping paper before we started and that was a MAJOR MOM HACK WIN! Clean up was so easy!

She was so happy digging out all the “guts” on her little white pumpkin. She actually did a pretty good job! I let her color the outside of the pumpkin with markers while we finished gutting our pumpkins.

CAN YOU GUESS WHICH PUMPKIN BELONGS TO WHO?

Mama did the scary one! It turned out awesome!

Waylin was so entranced by her pumpkin lit up. I captured this amazing picture and I am so in love with it.

Everyone always talks about the magic of Christmas, but I think the real enchantment starts in October. ❤

I did some fun smoke bomb photography the next day to round out our pumpkins for 2020. Ben and Waylin waited anxiously as I bundled up with my fancy camera to try to capture a cool smoke bomb pictures by the lake. 2 of the 3 smoke bombs I had were duds, and the one that wasn’t only lasted for 10 seconds out of the 90 it claimed it would.

Waylin STILL talks about how cool the smoke bomb was! 🎃

We found a new favorite song too! “Witchcraft” by Frank Sinatra is a BOP! Ultimately, it was a really fun family time together. The kind I knew was magical while it was happening. I hope we continue to have more memories like these…
