Come on, big money!
Is it just us or does anyone else categorize "lottery fantasizing" as one of their favorite hobbies?
Ben and I are R-E-L-I-G-I-O-U-S about it! Maybe it's a sad hobby, maybe not! We can sit for hours talking about our plans. It could practically be written into a manual because we are THAT detailed. We know our first moves, the order of notification to our family and friends, our first purchase, the people we will need to hire, how much we are gifting to others, etc. I mean, the plan is all there!
We even know what our limit would be as to how much we need to win in order for me to quit my job! :D
A few days after Waylin's birthday, the jackpot was at 1.3 BILLION! It broke its own record! When a lottery record is broken, you better buy tickets! :) It was late, but we packed ourselves up and drove to the nearest gas station. The drawing was happening in two hours, so we had to brave the cold to try our luck!
Waylin came inside the gas station with me as we determined she was the only one worthy of having good luck! She sat up on the counter as I handed her the cash for three tickets. I mean, I know money is dirty and that babies shouldn't touch it. But, we were willing to "risk it" all in the name of luck! What's a couple of germs when you're a billionaire?! :)
The cashier was so sweet and handed the tickets straight to Way!
She was the happiest baby holding on to those lottery tickets! So much so, we started to really believe this was OUR TIME to win! The ride home and the bath time was spent re-confirming all of our plans we have discussed for years! We had to both be 100% on the plan because WE WERE GOING TO WIN, damnit! I could see Ben slipping a little bit and starting to get reckless with our lottery fantasy. He started adding a boat and another house to "our plan." I had to reel him in with our "basic" plan!
Do you ever think about what you would do with the money?
Our plan alters a little bit with the amount of lottery earnings, but here's a really slim version of what we plan to do with the money:
OUR BASIC PLAN:
Hire an attorney and a financial adviser immediately.
Quit our jobs and notify only the closest family members.
Purchase a truck - this can be used. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it does need to be a quad cab with enough pulling power and 4x4.
Purchase an RV - I would actually prefer to buy a used one! We don't need anything fancy. A used one would be nice because you don't have to reinvent the wheel with storage/design.
Hit the road for a year with Way & Vader. We would love to explore the country on our own timeline. Can you imagine the adventures and the experiences? Gah!
The rest of the details are a secret, because...I imagine people would come after you when you're a billionaire. But the above list is a good summary of what we would do!
I can report with great sadness that we are, in fact, not billionaires. We didn't even match one number! But you know what's kinda cool about our plan? We can still do the things listed on our "basic plan" even if we never win the lottery!
Ultimately, we are the luckiest people in the world, because we get to be parents to the prettiest little lady!
